Capris: Modcloth ; Top: Tommy Bahama thrifted ; bangles & seashell necklace: old
How long has it been since I did an outfit post - or even just blogged? If you said TOO LONG, then yes, you'd be correct! My job is keeping me busy, but I'm hoping that now that I've been working it for - ye gods! almost a month now - I'll be able to get my schedule sorted better and be updating with more frequency. Beginning new adventures always shakes up old routines quite a bit! I also lost my uncle and had the funeral this weekend, which put a bit of a sad hiccup in all of my plans. Let's hope that summer brings new friends, more free time, and no more losses!
So let's talk these pants just because why not this is a fashion blog. I wanted to get free shipping at Modcloth for a shirt (oh, story of my life), so I browsed their sale stuff and found these cute little capris. They didn't look like much on the model and I passed over them a few times before finally reading the reviews and realizing they're cuter in person that in the photos. And they are! Super-duper high-waisted in a thick, non-stretchy cotton twill. They're very pin-up-esque even though they just looked like work out pants in the photo on Modcloth. So glad I bought them! (Also, sorry but they seem to be sold out now.) I wore them to the company picnic tonight and am already planning to implement them into a few outfits this week. Beautiful! And so fun.
Speaking of fun - I love fun clothes. Cool patterns, vintage cuts, crazy fabrics, weird proportions. Clothes should definitely be all about the fun. Even business attire - I always try to have some fun. I wore this hibiscus patterned shirt to a job interview last week (with a cardigan because sleeveless is not professional). Why can't Hawaiian button downs be professional?
Sunday was my 21st birthday, which is exciting in America because it means you can legally drink. I went out for dinner with my folks and my best friend and had my very first legal beer. Tastes exactly like illegal beer - surprise! I'm going out later this week with friends to celebrate another 21st, and I'm vying for Psycho Suzi's Motor Lounge. I think this outfit would fit in there well. (Also, already planning on wearing these capris when we go out because I'm a dork who plans outfits a week in advance.) Do my Twin Cities friends have any recommendations for cool places to check out? The bar scene in Minnesota is totally new to me!
Writing about my birthday is inspiring me to make a list of 21 things to do before I turn 22. I already have a few goals for myself, but I think I will expand to even more. Some on my list already: visit Seattle, make amends with all friends I've spat with, and take a road trip. What are some big goals you've made for yourself this year?
Love the pedal pushers! Alex

Thanks Alex! I always forget that "pedal pushers" is an acceptable replacement for the word "capri"! I like it much better haha
DeleteThose pants are so nice! One of my aims for this year was to perform some of my poetry which I had been avoiding out of nerves and lack of confidence. But I finally did it last month and it was one of the best feelings hearing everyone clap at the end and getting to voice my opinion on stuff that really mattered to me. So perhaps you could make one of your goals to do something that makes you nervous?
ReplyDeleteHi Safiya! Thanks for the idea. I'm still working on the list...hmmm....now I need to start thinking of things that scare me - that's a great goal to have for yourself! Congrats on sharing your poetry, and I hope you continue too! I know how scary it can be to share your feelings.
DeleteYou're so hot, those pants are perfect on you!
